How to measure yourself for women's clothing sizes

Обновлено:

What you need

  • A soft measuring tape (a string and a ruler work too).
  • Thin clothes, or underwear you'd wear with the item.
  • A garment you own that fits you well, for length and loose fits.

How to measure

  • Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, tape level across your back, arms relaxed.
  • Waist: around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
  • Hips: around the fullest part of your hips and seat, feet together.
  • Inseam (trousers): from the crotch to where you want the hem, on the inside of the leg.
  • Length: lay a garment that fits you flat and measure from the highest point of the shoulder (or the waistband) to the hem.
  • Keep the tape snug but not tight, and write each number down in centimetres.

Reading the size chart on our product pages

Charts show the measurements the supplier gives, in centimetres, and are labelled «as the supplier states» unless we measured them ourselves.

Many supplier charts give the garment's measurements, not your body's. A garment's bust or waist should be a little larger than yours so it can move; how much depends on the fit (fitted, regular, loose). The easiest check: lay a garment you like flat, measure across and double the number, then compare.

Between two sizes? For fitted items without stretch, the larger one is usually safer; for stretchy fabric the smaller one may fit better.

Why measuring first matters at Dunjali

Items sold by Dunjali to US addresses can't be returned because the size doesn't fit, only if they arrive damaged, defective, wrong or not as described. The product page says so before you buy. Please check the chart first.
